Dave Baker began as a contract cleaner in 1965 working for himself. Over the following years, his acquired cleaning skills and knowledge proved to be in great demand. In 1974 he opened his first shop under the name of Clearsee Janitorial Supplies, where he sold cleaning and janitorial products to the local community.
1976-1979 - Highland Road, Southsea
Due to an increasing number of customers and the need for larger premises, Dave moved to a property on Highland Road in 1976.
1979-1998 - Haslemere Road, Southsea
The business continued to thrive, prompting another move. In 1979, Dave relocated the business to Haslemere Road, Southsea. Within a short period, he also purchased the two adjoining properties to further expand capacity.
1998-Present Day - Aspen House, Airport Service Road, Portsmouth
As the business continued to grow at a considerable pace, Dave moved to the current premises on Airport Service Road. The company now operates from a 14,000 sq ft warehouse, allowing for over 5,000 stock items to be held at any given time, with more than 50,000 products available through the strong manufacturer relationships Dave has built over the years. In 2002, the company abbreviated its name to CJS Portsmouth Ltd.
